Do not over tighten main bar when installing. Simply snug it down.
I installed this bar when I did my Bilstein B14 coilovers. I have not tracked this car, nor do I intend to do so, and it's frankly hard for me to determine the performance benefits of this part alone, in isolation, as I completely overhauled the entire front end when I put it in. So, am I happy with the bar? Yes, absolutely, and the quality is top-notch, like everything else Danny makes. Is my front suspension amazing? YES, YES, YES — it is! I'm just having a hard time explaining which component is contributing exactly what. But I do recommend it.
When you do the install, you'll be taking off three different bits to access the top of the strut towers. First, you'll need to unbolt your windshield wipers, pull them straight up and off, and remove two bits of plastic cowling sandwiched together on top. Then, you can remove the flimsy factory stamped brace, which is bolted to the top of the strut towers. Now, do your front struts, if applicable, and install them up through the TB Performance top hats. Now is also the ideal time to install your TB Performance brake master cylinder brace, if you have one.
Installing the bar is straight-forward, it just takes some wiggling to get everything situated. I recommend cranking the lower mounting nuts as high as they will go and just fitting a tiny bit of the eyelet into one exposed stud. Adjust the bar length accordingly and take your time. You'll need to leave some clearance for the master cylinder reservoir, so you won't be able to go all the way down the bottom of the mounting studs. Once you snug down the lock nuts, you're basically stuck, so tighten up the top as a very last step once you have the car on the ground and you're certain about the clearance you'll need for the brake fluid reservoir.
I am 100% certain that this is the best product of its kind on the market. If your Focus needs a front strut bar, this is the one you want.
The front strut bar is the last part I needed to have everything suspension related. Perfectly fits in easy to install and helps the turn in and now more control in slides. Car feels perfect now with this and every other chassis bracing!
